Autumn Preparations

Autumn is not one of my favorite Season’s, but there is no other way than to cope with it somehow. I spent to whole day yesterday preparing my self for the cold and dark time doing the following things:

– Changing the Summer plants to more Autumny ones on the balcony
– Baking lingonberry pie and making cabbage casserole with lingonberry jam
– Crocheting an ear warmer

With these jobs done, I think I can manage through Autumn a bit better 🙂

For my cousin’s daughter’s 1st birthday I made this apliqued cushion cover. This was first time I tried this techinic since many years, but I must say, that it really gives a lot of opportunities for future crafts 🙂

Habitare Fair 2012

I just visited the Habitare interior fair today at Helsinki, and found out that this year it actually was worth a visit. And the train ride doesn’t take that long, when you can blog on the same time, thanks to the modern technology 🙂

Almost Autumn

This Sunday started well with the nice weather. We decided to get one geocache from the forest, and at the same time I could pick some berries or collect mushrooms. I did find blueberries and rasberries that I could use tonight. My mother has done so good a job picking up berries already, so I won’t fill my freezer with my own lot 🙂

I also found this little frog, or actually very many little frogs, but this little fellow agreed to be photographed.

This vegan and almost organic berry desert was easily prepared:

2,5 dl Oat cream

1 dl Soy jogurt

2 dl Blueberries and rasberries

2 tblsp Cane sugar

1,5 tsp Vanilla sugar

1 tsp Lime juice

Whisk the oat cream and add all the other incredients. Add the sugar and the lime juice according to own taste.

Today I also started to make a fairisle beanie, that I didn’t finish last year. Let’s see, if this is the year that I can actually wear it…

Housing Fair in Vuores 2012

This year the annual Housing fair is held in my home town, Tampere. As every year, there were good ideas and bad ideas brought to reality, but the photos I want to share with you, are of the ones that I found good 🙂

Great DIY idea for personal hangers.

My favorite kitchen, especially I liked the birch-white upper cabinets.

The curtains in this house are sewn by me!

Another pic of my own sewing.

Really nice interior design in this house, well done with combining the natural wood with grey, and not looking out-dated at all.

20120729-212442.jpg
I really liked the idea with the wall painting, it shows the the shape of the room nicely.

20120729-212453.jpg
Nice fence and gate, both very natural, but modern.

I would like to have a summer room like this!

The branch was so nicely lit and it bought relaxed feeling in the otherwise strict decor.

The roof was too cute, but the photo doesn’t show how cute…

Few Shots

Here’s a few shot’s from my domestic travels. The first one is from Kallo, Pori, which is about the closest place to the coast from my home. The second one is taken at Kuusamo, where I was spending the Midsummer. The photo is taken on the top of the Ruka fell.

New Blog!

This is a English spin-off blog of my Finnish one, Tuikin tärkeät asiat. I will be blogging to Cherry On A Sundae simultaneously with Tuikin tärkeät asiat from now on, and if you like, you can check the older post from there.

And the reason of this blog? Well, sometimes a girl just needs a cherry on her sundae and the world looks a bit better!
